Yes — six of the roller models in this collection have a built-in TSA-approved lock: The Carry-On, Small Carry-On, Medium Check-In, Large Check-In, Hybrid Carry-On and Hybrid Check-In Rollers, along with the Disney Mickey Mouse Red editions of the first four. The preset combination is 0-0-0, and you set your own in three steps on our TSA lock instructions page. Because the lock is TSA-approved, an airport security officer can open it with a universal master key instead of damaging it. The Pro Rolling Backpack and The Pro-Rolling Duffle Check-In list BÉIS security clipping zipper pullers rather than a combination lock.

Five models expand an extra 2 inches: The Carry-On Roller goes from 49 L to 61 L, The Medium Check-In Roller from 78 L to 94 L, The Large Check-In Roller from 111 L to 132 L, The Hybrid Carry-On Roller from 35 L to 41 L, and The Hybrid Check-In Roller from 89.5 L to 99.5 L. The Small Carry-On Roller (31 L), The Pro Rolling Backpack (34 L) and The Pro-Rolling Duffle Check-In (93 L) do not. Two inches doesn’t sound like much until it is the difference between zipping the bag and sitting on it.

Eight sizes, from a 31 L small carry-on to a large check-in that stretches to 132 L expanded (yes, we've tested that number personally). Smallest to largest by capacity:

Carry-on limits differ by airline (our sizing chart lines up eleven US carriers side by side), so check your airline's size and weight rules before you pick a size.

Start with a system, because "shove and pray" is not one (we've tried it). Our order of operations:

1. Sort into packing cubes by outfit or category, so you unpack a cube instead of excavating a suitcase.
2. Bag your shoes. The Hybrid rollers include a pouch set for shoes, laundry or damp items, and both Pro bags include dirt bags. Shoes never touch your clothes. Ever.
3. Cinch the compression straps once the main compartment is full. That flat layer is where the extra sweater goes.
4. Expand only if you have to. The Carry-On, Medium Check-In and Large Check-In Rollers and both Hybrid rollers unzip for 2 more inches. Handy, but it can push a carry-on past an airline's size limit.
5. Lift by the weight indicator handle before you leave. If it flags 50 lbs, something comes out in your hallway, where you still have options.

Mostly polycarbonate, which is why the shells shrug off baggage handlers and clean up with a damp cloth. The Carry-On, Small Carry-On, Medium Check-In and Large Check-In Rollers have polycarbonate hard shells. The Hybrid Carry-On and Hybrid Check-In Rollers use a 100% virgin polycarbonate shell with reinforced aluminum corner protectors at the impact points. The Pro Rolling Backpack is ballistic nylon, and The Pro-Rolling Duffle Check-In pairs a polycarbonate back shell with a ballistic nylon front. Underneath, the four core rollers glide on Hinomoto 360° wheels, and the Hybrids on 55mm suspension wheels.

Yes. Our sets pair carry-on and check-in sizes in one color, so your bags come off the carousel looking like a team (the easiest way to look like you have your life together). Prefer to mix your own? It is the BÉIS Limited Lifetime Luggage Warranty, and it applies to eight named polycarbonate models purchased directly from BÉIS or from an authorized BÉIS retailer. Four of those are in this collection: The Carry-On Roller, The Small Carry-On Roller, The Medium Check-In Roller and The Large Check-In Roller. It covers cracks or breaks in the shell, wheels and handles (including telescoping handles) that break off or are no longer usable, zippers that break or can no longer open and close, and fabric tears that would be considered a defect outside of normal wear and tear. If a claim is accepted we replace the luggage within 60 days of receiving it and ship the replacement at our expense. Read the full warranty.

Most products can be returned or exchanged within 45 days, brand new and unused, with original tags attached and packaging intact, purchased directly from the BÉIS website. Exchanges are free; returns carry a $10 handling fee. A return is a different thing from a warranty claim — use the warranty for a defect, and the return policy for a change of heart about the color.
